Ladakh Administration has approved EV Policy, which is in implementation from 17.08.2022. Policy is valid for 5 years till 16.08.2027.
All Electric Vehicles are exempted from Road Tax
Incentives for EV Charging Facility - Electrical power required for EV charging will be charged at domestic rate
- Public charging facilities in parking areas of residential, commercial, institutional establishments, etc. will be allowed
- Commercial public EV charging stations for Two wheelers, Cars and Buses will be eligible for capital subsidy on equipment/machinery (Capital subsidy of 25% on the equipment's/Machinery or INR 5,00,000/- (Whichever is less) per station for the first 15 EV Charging Stations).
Subsidy for EV Buyers(whichever is lower): - For 2w : 10% of Ex-Showroom or INR 15,000 - For 3w e-cart : 10% of Ex-Showroom or INR 30,000
- For 3w : 10% of Ex-Showroom or INR 50,000
- For Car : 10% of Ex-Showroom or INR 2,50,000
- For Bus : 25% of Ex-Showroom or INR 50,00,000
However, there's early bird subsidy, applicable for one year(and units) from date of implementation:
- For 2w : 20% of Ex-Showroom or INR 30,000 : 28 EVs - For 3w e-cart : 20% of Ex-Showroom or INR 60,000 : 10 EVs
- For 3w : 20% of Ex-Showroom or INR 1,00,000 : 10 EVs
- For Car : 20% of Ex-Showroom or INR 5,00,000 : 33 EVs - For Bus : 50% of Ex-Showroom or INR 1,00,00,000 : 11 EVs
How Subsidy will be availed? Policy notices this as - " The Demand Incentive shall be available for buyers (end users/consumers) in the form of an upfront-reduced purchase price to enable wider adoption, which will be reimbursed to Dealer by Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh. In case, the individual beneficiary buys an EV (at 100% Ex-showroom price) from dealer based in another state/UT but registers and use the EV in Ladakh, the reimbursement shall be given to individual beneficiary and not to the Dealer. "
